Why spay or neuter your cat?

Spaying and neutering helps prevent unwanted litters, reduces pressure on rescues, and improves your cat’s health and behaviour. It can reduce roaming, fighting, and mating-related behaviours, lower the risk of certain diseases (including FIV), and prevent serious reproductive health issues.

How the scheme works

Cats are spayed or neutered at a CDPA-approved partner vet following written approval from CDPA. The scheme covers the spay/neuter procedure only; any additional treatments are charged separately. CDPA works with vets nationwide, covering all counties.

If cost or access is a barrier, please contact info@cdpa.ie. We’re happy to help if you have difficulty completing the form or need additional support.

Please note: prices may change depending on available funding. This scheme is partially funded in 2024 by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, with additional support from partner veterinary clinics.
